Finally, the time has come for Sunderland to see a new addition for the LGBT community with its very own 100% Gay Owned & Gay Operated bar & night club, located in the old chambers site on High St West around the corner from The City Tavern!

With its opening night planned for 18th Jan 08 @ 7PM, Retox has had some major work done to it making it a state of the art club with fabulous decor, lighting, and a stage and will give the LGBT community a truly gay venue to visit ANY NIGHT of the week.

Lets hope this club is here to stay, and it will pave the way for other venues who only offer Gay Nights to come out the closet and be 100% GAY and give Sunderland and its diverse culture more places to go, and creating a unique LGBT community!

Well the re-launch night of the Power House has been and gone, and it saw Sonia play on the brand new stage that has been built. Not all the work was completed according to some who managed to go to the launch night, and although there has been a lot of money spent on the venue and a few changes made not all were impressed.

Since it was bought in August, The new owners of The PH are investing 3 million pounds in giving the club an extreme makeover which will see the introduction of a new smoking area on a  'roof top' terrace, higher ceilings, new  VIP area and brand new stage.

There is also a new sign to the side of the building for 'Sugar' which was what the location of the club was previously known as but no information on what this will be has been released. Its located at the side door, which in the past took you direct to the top floor which was aimed at the straight community!

The re-launch of the new club is planned for 29th Nov, and will boast live acts including Sonia, Booty Luv and the Freemasons. Discounted door entry will also be offered to pure card holders!

August 2007

From the 16th August, The scenes long standing club The PH, along with Gossip, and The Vault were sold off by Trafalgar Leisure. to rival group Pure Leisure, the owners of The Loft, One Bar, The Bank, and Switch making them the biggest operator and employer of the Newcastle Scene!

We can confirm that both The Loft and The Powerhouse will run along side each other as 2 separate venues, with plans to introduce the Pure Leisure Loyalty Card promotion to these new editions, and work is going on behind the scenes which will see The PH get a much needed face lift, outside smoking areas for all 3 venues and much more.

Well, we have finally launched our brand spanking new NE GAYSCENE website which replaces the old Newcastle Gay section on the GaySceneOnline site and now covers an even wider area from Newcastle in the North to Middlesbrough in the South. That's right we now cover the WHOLE North East!

In the next few months we will be adding extra features to the site once we have gave it a chance to find its feet, and there maybe one or two sections currently unavailable till we make some final updates so please bare with us.
